This jacket is brand new and designed for Kendo, a Japanese fencing sport. The embroidery on this garment, known as "刺し子" or sashiko, represents a traditional Japanese embroidery technique. Sashiko is a decorative stitching style used to create patterns and designs on fabric by hand, typically using white or indigo-colored thread.
Originally, sashiko was employed for mending and strengthening worn clothing, as it provided a durable and decorative way to repair fabrics. With time, it evolved into a distinct decorative art form.
Originally, this style of Kendo jacket is typically worn by children in Japan though, of course, it is recommended to adults if their size fits.. It features an embroidery design composed of triangles, squares, and octagons. The material used is 100% Cotton, making it soft, highly breathable, and remarkably durable.
